I applaud you for emphasizing experiences where you got lucky at the beginning. A lot of these articles really overweight people's chances of going Swiss Family Robinson in the wilderness.

Generally the goal is survive long enough to get rescued. There are a select few people in some wilderness environments that could pull off long-term survival and that may have been more common in prior to the 20th Century. It’s a lot harder than it looks.

I use the Bahco 2444 Mora Knife, pretty sure it comes out of the same factory as the Morakniv, and can be had for 18 Australian dollars! Bright orange makes it harder to lose if accidentally dropped.

Definitely. If you really want to get a great deal, you can find the knife and a laplander foldable saw for $30 American. https://www.abolox.com/bahco-lap-knife?gQT=1

I was going to express outrage at you suggesting we have a tool to kill enemies, but was both relieved at this being so informative and impressed by the perhaps cleverness to get your post read!

Thank you, these are valuable survival tips. I like to hike but I don’t know much about survival in the wilderness. I know how to make a fire… I think that’s all.

I’ll try to have future content that demonstrates how to do some of these survival skills with a knife.

I would love to know more about batoning, using a knife & ferromagnetic strip to start a fire, and effective notches for survival shelters. I will be purchasing a bushcraft knife based on your excellent video. Thank you!

Thank you Erin. I will make January focused on knife craft then, and we will cover all of that. It’s good motivation. :-)
