An apt comparison. I just finished an article coming to the same conclusion with a different approach. Our choices sickening, just as eating fast food is, and we can't even get people to stop eating fast food, the worst of all possible choices. That laziness and lack of recognition has resulted in this demoralizing choice. The people aren't just victims, they're enablers.

Agreed, it is similar to domestic abuse: the wife complains but keeps going back for more.

The majority of people are beyond salvation.

They say, "On average, it takes seven attempts to leave a domestic violence situation.

“In our experience, when a woman has access to financial resources, it may only take three attempts to leave,”

“Those who lack financial resources or social networks can actually take up to 30 attempts to leave.”

The sliver of hope is a handful of people effect change, good or bad. We don't need a majority, just an organized and courageous minority.

Keep in mind that the ‘diet’ drinks substitute industrial cream for the natural sugar. Really a worsening under the cover of ‘better’

Probably depends on if the Coke has high fructose corn syrup. :-)

No, there is no "cream" in diet soda. And if there were, it would be an improvement, industrial or not.

For that matter, what's dangerous in the meal is the sugar and wheat and "vegetable" oils. Morgan Spurlock made himself sick eating a standard fast-food menu (all the food on it, I mean) for thirty days. Tom Naughton did the same thing but cut out fries, bread, and sugar, and his health markers improved.

Justin's not far off the mark in his metaphor, mind you, but humans evolved our big brains eating fat and cholesterol, not soybeans. If we're going to solve the problem we have to diagnose it correctly first.

That was the point. You could list reasons why Diet Coke is better or worse. It has fewer calories and no sugar. But the meal will kill you either way, so it’s a false choice at the end of the day.

For that matter are our leaders doing anything to prepare for the coming fascist onslaught and insurrection other than asking for campaign donations? Are they?

Biden‘s major accomplishment has been to bow out of campaigning. Is that what the President of the United States and the head of the executive branch, now with the power of a king, should be doing in the current political crisis of rampant lies and corruption? He’s a fish fillet and not a big Mac.

I am still surprised when intelligent people with valid complaints about our fragile quasi-Democracy have horrible timing with their righteous observations - 5 months out from the big 2024 election of all US elections, like the last one because of the evil anomaly that is traitor crook Trump. If Biden does not win - our quasi-Democracy is over and there will no longer be even a small light/window/opportunity in the dark, broken Democracy tunnel for any hope of ever fixing it. Thus every citizen’s life will be affected in a negative way because of this coup of Project 2025 Autocratic Christian (Not!) Nationalists/Hard Core Capitalists. Basically all the worst aspects of our current situation and none of the good ones - for the foreseeable future with King Trump or until the country breaks down - which will happen unless some consensus of tolerance and progress occur soon. Please stop sowing seeds of doubt about an excellent underrated president and yes - old dude Biden (minus a couple recent blunders) who passed some major BFD legislation for important US Domestic issues, in a polarized nation no less! Let’s Just help Biden win so we save Democracy for another 4 years and try to fix it! Here is a list of some of the those amazing accomplishments to remind those with short term memories…

I will do no such thing. People understand all that malarkey already because the media rams that down our throats nonstop. I never said “don’t vote for Biden.” But we are also at 11:59 on the doomsday clock. My job is to tell the truth because there ain’t enough people doing that.
