What I had in mind is don't throw away your extras. A lot of people do that. I buy a lot of it from the thrift store as well. I'll have an article about that soon. As far as consuming goes, yeah of course it's horrible, but consciousness isn't likely going to make any dent in it at all. My post about the cultural hegemony covers this.
