This sounds soooo familiar. We are fighting a similar battle in Ontario. Google "Doug Ford Greenbelt" to get the gist and find some petitions to sign to help us out! So far we've been semi-successful in the fight but it's a constant battle with this conservative government. I'm sad but not surprised it's happening down south!

Thanks for sharing that. Uphill battles everywhere. But I think we only build strength by exposing the system for what it is.

Ok, I grew up in Northern Nevada. Carson CIty/Indian Hills. You think this is new? How cute. Harry Reid was instrumental in passing changes to BLM land sales in the 90s. Guess what his party affiliation was? This has been the story of Northern Nevada for over a generation, quit acting like it's new. You think North Las Vegas, Dayton, Fallon grew from private land sales? How cute. Brother, 93% of Nevada is owned by the feds.

Try knowing something about a region first.

I specifically wrote this was nothing new. I lived in Nevada for over 20 years and know it quite well. I recommend Progress or Plunder as a book about the long history of ecological destruction in Nevada.

Apologies, from on Nevadan to another. Try not to make such rage bait. I read the first paragraph and saw red.

Hey… we are Battle Born. It’s in our blood. That song “Home Means Nevada” still gives me goosebumps.

There's no place like Nevada. I may be in West Virginia these days, but Nevada raised me. It's impossible to explain the vast, but fragile ecosystems. How my dad showed me to chew on the Ephedra Californica if I had a headache. Creosote is more southern, but nothing can match the smell of the sagebrush after a rain. Going hunting for doves on the eastern side of Washoe lake with my father. It's now tract homes. If my folks' place hadn't been foreclosed in 07, we would likely still live there.

You can talk the corrupt jerks in your backyard, but don't assume you know what is happening in our backyard. You are just as bad as they are

Lemme guess, Clark county?

I made my amends for firing off all half cocked like a dumbass.

Nevada still has that "home" feel for me, but i dont think i could live there anymore

Let them go ahead and spend billions developing subdivisions and all the trappings. Like you say in the video, the area is being pumped dry. If they have to learn that it’s unsustainable the hard way, so be it. Nature will win. They will lose. Buyers beware. Desert will reclaim it and wind blow the remains into Las Vegas and beyond.

This will be the end of nature as we know it & they don't care because they never used these Lands & rivers & forests for generations as my family has. I am Klamath & Blackfeet Tribal member, we cannot live without these places. This is our right as Indigenous ancestors who Treaties since the 1800's! I will not stand by while this happens!

Giving the land back to native people would be the smartest and wisest choice by far. But we are dealing with psychopaths. Sometimes the only way not to get punched is to punch back.

I know, we have been fighting for forests & undaming rivers, endangered species every year & Trump comes in & to does this! We certainly won't stand down while he tries to steal our ancestral hunting & fishing grounds.
